Accessibility Statement

We are committed to providing access to our app to as many people as we possibly can.

As a result of the commitment we have made to accessibility we have already started focusing on accessibility as part of the web design with the intention for the app to be more accessible and adhere to the level AA standards provided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2). As part of this commitment we will also continually run accessibility tests on our app in order to discover any accessibility issues that may be present.

Some of the ways in which we are trying to make our app accessible to more users are:

  • making sure that the text and buttons have enough contrast
  • allowing users to resize the page without losing information
  • making sure the app can be navigated with just a keyboard
  • employing ARIA attributes
  • making sure the app can be accessed from different types of devices (desktops, mobile phones, tablets)
  • guaranteeing that important information is properly marked

Compliance:

As of the 1st of April 2025 the WorkInConfidence app is mostly compliant with the level AA requirements of WCAG 2.2. The list below shows the level of compliance with the aforementioned requirements:

  • The pre-login pages are fully compliant and you can register an account and sign in using just a keyboard.
  • Post-login the app is mostly compliant and users are able to start a conversation as well as change settings on their personal pages using a keyboard.
  • Surveys can be completed with a keyboard or a screen reader.
  • Users are able to zoom up to 500% on mobile
  • Errors alert screen reader users to their existence
  • There is a ‘Skip to main content’ link provided in the app

Current limitations

Below is a list of known accessibility issues. The list is not exhaustive and there may be other accessibility issues we have yet to discover or fix.

  • when starting a conversation users are timed out after 1 hour (this is to protect the content of their message and their anonymity and a banner is constantly present on the page to inform them of that)
  • when using the ‘Survey Analysis’ feature as a survey manager the black text does not have enough contrast against the two darkest shades of green and red
  • the drag and drop functionality available on various admin pages throughout the system does not work with a keyboard

Optimising your setup for accessibility

The AbilityNet website offers detailed information about setting up your devices to make them more accessible. It allows you to see a variety of helpful information after selecting from the vision/hearing/motor/cognitive options there.

Microsoft provides their own Windows 11 Accessibility Features page which also offers a variety of helpful information for this system and the accessibility settings available in it.
